Celebrate Virginia Down Syndrome Association's 40th Anniversary at our Spring Gala!

The inaugural Dancing with the Local Stars Gala is a fundraising event to celebrate VDSA’s 40th Anniversary! The evening will feature a dance competition between five Richmond celebrities who will be partnered with specialty dancers from Miracles in Motion, a non-profit dance group that provides specialized dance instruction to individuals with disabilities of all ages. All of our dancers, four of whom have Down syndrome, will perform a choreographed dance as a pair.

Janai Santiago and Matt Lomaka, two advocates with Down syndrome, and radio hosts Kat Simons on Mix 98.1 FM and Mike King on 106.1 ESPN Richmond.

Join us for cocktail hour, dinner in the ballroom and amazing entertainment from our dancing couples.

We see this fundraising event as an opportunity to truly celebrate the success and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome as well as the progress made over the last 40 years – when the life expectancy for individuals with Ds was only 25 years of age.

Today, thanks to the help of many supports, advances in medical care, and organizations like ours, the life expectancy is now over 60! Individuals with Down syndrome bring so much to our community through their joy and their talents!
